Happy Halloween 2010

Before I even get into this post I just have to share this morning.  Tommy was already in our bed and I had just crept downstairs to make my cup of coffee when Jack started crying.  I went and got him and I can tell he is getting a cold so I carried him into our bedroom and I said "Jack isn't feeling very good".  Tommy puts his arm around him and I wait for the too tight squeeze, but it doesn't happen and he looks at me and says "Mama I gonna make him better soon as I can".  I love those little brothers:)

Now on to Halloweenie!

Tommy was, big surprise, a basket ball man (his terminology) and Jack was his basketball.  Tommy wore all stuff he already owned and Jack wore a drawstring bag that I cut head and arm holes in.  The only wardrobe malfunctions was when the drawstring came undone and his stuffing all fell out:)

And if it ins't obvious enough to you, Rob and I were refs, courtesy of 2 old t shirts and either electrical tape or permanent marker.  We looked GOOD!

Then, of course, we had our tag alongs, my adopted children, my lovely sisters.  Steph stuck to the theme very well and Sarah said she was our superhero to protect all of us:)

Our first stop was to see the neighbor kids.  Tommy was very eager for his first "Trick or Treat"

Then we visited Grandma and Papa and then Nonnie.  Then it was back in the car and up to Oma and Opa's and Tante Lizzie's house.  Putting Jack in his carseat was an effort all in its own.

By this point Tommy totally knew what the point of Halloween was and he was nearly driven mad with his urge for candy.  Jack was just happy that we let him have a Yucker (Sucker).

Then we ventured over to Auntie Karin's house and I was too cold to take any pictures but she and Chad were dressed very cute .  Last stop, Aunt Dickie and Uncle Chris's house where the treats abounded.  We let Tommy indulge a little at this point.

This Halloween was so much fun, mostly because I got to watch Tommy get truly excited about Halloween for the first time and because Jack just gladly went along with being stuffed full of old grocery bags and kept a smile on his face the whole time.  On the way home Tommy asked when we would get to do Halloween again and Rob told him not til next year when he would be 4 and a half.  I got all sad and I said "Tommy I don't want you to be four I want you to stay 3.5 forever"  he said " Mommy I will turn four and then I will turn three again for you".  I wish.  And as much as I love watching them grow and take these big strides, I know I will miss this.

Mommy got a little creative on Halloween morning and made the scary mummy candle holders, which the boys got a real kick out of.  Score.

Happy Halloween!  See you next year when I have a 4.5 and a 2.5 year old.  Tear.

Very cute post Jennie. Loved the mummy candles. They look great with the candles. Poor Jack in the car seat :( The only thing I miss this year is Rob and the boys saying Trick-or-Treat at your door and you getting it on tape (you may have to get them all dressed up again to do this - yeah right!)

Another thing you'll have to get them dressed again for is taking pictures with me and Papa. Dang, we forgot!! Oh, well, lots of cute pictures though.
